Hello! I’m Sifu Mallon with the Clearwater
Kung Fu center. This is my assistant Melissa
and this is kick boxing. We’re going to be
working on a jump rope warm up exercise. This
is called our cross swing. To perform the
cross swing, you’re going to hold the rope
in both hands. You’re going to keep your legs
straight. Knees a little bent. You’re going
to just perform the swing side to side, of
your body. Now the idea with this is, we’re
not even going to incorporate a hop. But we’re
just getting this swinging part. Getting used
to turning our body. And feeling the timing
of the rope hit. I’m going to go ahead and
let Melissa demonstrate this. And I’ll show
you some of the finer details. So she’s going
to begin with her feet together. Her knees
are little bent. O.k. The body is straight
and she puts ropes in both hands. So she holds
a rope, one hand, two hands. She lets it down,
by the side. Now she’s going to bring it.
Keeping her hands very close to each other.
She’s going to swing it to her right and then
to her left. Making this crossing action.
Now you want to go ahead and move it Melissa,
towards nice and fast. So you start feeling
that the rope has some tension to it. When
you’re jump roping, the worst thing you want,
is have a loose rope. Very good, Melissa.
You can go ahead and stop. This is cross swing,
